A takeover starts with an audit, not with promises. Before we change a line, we find out who owns what and what state the code is in, because the riskiest part of a takeover is what nobody wrote down. We take over projects on Laravel, PHP, WordPress, Shopify, Magento, React and Next.js, mobile apps and other stacks.
Project Takeover
Your site, store or product was built by another agency or a freelancer, and now they are gone: they left, went quiet, kept missing deadlines, or the relationship simply ended. The product still has to work tomorrow. We take it over: we collect the access and the code, find out what is really there, make it stable and carry on the work with our team.

What we check
-
01.
Access and ownership
Who holds the domain, the hosting, the repository, the app store, payment and analytics accounts, and whether they are in your name. Where it matters, we go deeper with a digital ownership audit.
-
02.
Code
Its quality and structure, outdated dependencies, security issues and the parts that only the previous developer understood.
-
03.
Infrastructure
Servers, environments, deployments, backups and whether they restore, monitoring and how changes reach production.
-
04.
Integrations
Payments, CRM and ERP, delivery services, email and every other connection, with the keys and accounts behind them.
-
05.
Documentation
What exists, what is missing, and what we have to reconstruct from the code itself.
-
06.
Open work
Unfinished tasks, known bugs, promises made to you and the state of the backlog the previous team left behind.
Selected Work
Projects where we picked up an existing platform: an outdated store brought to PHP 8.4, a Magento store from another contractor rebuilt on Laravel.

You tell us what happened
What the project is, who built it, what access you still have and what is going wrong. We confirm the audit price before any work starts.

We collect access and code
We help you request the code and accounts from the previous contractor. When they do not answer, we work out what can be regained through the hosting provider, the registrar and the services themselves.

We audit and stabilise
A developer reviews the code, a DevOps engineer the infrastructure, and a project manager documents the project and the open work. Critical issues go first.

We present the findings and carry on
On a call we walk you through the report and the plan, and our team continues with development or support.
What you get
Sometimes the honest verdict is that parts of the project should be rebuilt. Then we explain why and plan a modernisation that keeps what works. After the audit, work continues at our team rate as ongoing support or with a dedicated team.
All access and accounts collected in one list, with a note on whose name each one is in.
A written audit of the code, infrastructure and integrations, with risks ranked by urgency.
Documentation of how the project works, clear enough for any team to continue from it.
Stabilisation of the critical issues, agreed with you before we touch anything.
A verdict for each part of the project: keep, fix or rebuild.
A plan and a budget for the next stage of development or support.

How you can work with us
Whatever the format, the work is shaped around how your business runs, not a template, and what we build belongs to you. The same people and standards in three formats: choose the one that fits your stage, or combine them.

Pricing
Takeover audit from $2,500
The price depends on the size of the project, the number of integrations and servers, the state of the documentation and how much access has to be recovered. It is fixed before the audit starts.
The price includes collecting access, the written report, the project documentation and the walkthrough call. Urgent fixes found during the audit, and all further development or support, are agreed with you and billed separately at our team rate.

FAQ
What if the previous contractor does not hand anything over?
We start with what you control: the domain, the hosting and your own accounts. When accounts are registered to you or your company, access can often be regained through the providers, which is why we check ownership first.
Which stacks can you take over?
Laravel, PHP, WordPress, Shopify, Magento, React and Next.js, mobile apps and others. If your stack is less common, tell us and we will say honestly whether we have the right people for it.
Will the site keep working during the takeover?
Yes. We change nothing in production until we have access, working backups and a clear picture of how the project is deployed.
What if the verdict is to rebuild?
The report explains which parts, why, and what carries over. A rebuild is never the default, and the parts that work stay.
Do we have to continue with you after the audit?
No. The report and the documentation are yours, and any team can continue from them.
Who owns the code after the takeover?
You do. The code, the intellectual property and everything we deliver are handed over to you under the contract.
Can you take over while our current contractor is still working?
Yes, and it is the easiest kind of takeover. We prepare a written list of what to request: the repository with its history, how changes reach production, environment settings and scheduled tasks, third-party accounts, known bugs and open promises, plus one walkthrough call. Requests go through you, in writing, so the handover stays about knowledge, not about the past.
Are urgent fixes found during the audit included in its price?
No. The audit price covers collecting the access, the written report, the project documentation and the walkthrough call. When the audit finds something urgent, such as backups that do not restore or leads that stop arriving, we agree each fix with you first and bill it separately at our team rate.
What should we prepare before the first call?
A short account of what the project is, who built it and what is going wrong, and a list of what you can still log into: the domain registrar, the hosting, any code repository, analytics, payment and email accounts. Contracts and invoices from the previous contractor help as well. Gaps are normal; finding them is part of the audit.
We built the product ourselves with AI tools. Is that a takeover?
Usually not. A product built by the owner with AI tools has different risks: missing access rules, keys left in browser code, no version history. Our MVP review is made for it: from $3,000, with the price fixed before the review starts. If the product was built by an agency or freelancer who is no longer around, the takeover audit is the right start.
What should we change after the handover is complete?
Change the passwords and API keys the previous team used and remove their accounts on the same day, including hosting, the repository, analytics and advertising accounts. Then check where every form submission, order notification, error alert and password reset goes: after a handover these often still reach a former contractor or partner. We go through this list with you during the audit.
